After the shocking shooting that took place in Parkland, Florida at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on Wednesday February 14th resulting in the death of 17 students and faculty members at the school, students across the country are coming together to have their voices heard. This is one of the deadliest school shootings in US history and it has sparked a massive debate about gun control and gun safety. Since the beginning of 2018, there have been a total of 18 school shootings across the United States which averages out to about 3 per week. Students and parents across the country have decided that enough is enough.
''March For Our Lives” is a movement that was created, inspired and will be led by the students and children across the country that will no longer sit back and be silenced on their ideas of protection. They are speaking out to demand that schools are made safe and no more families will have to experience such losses as those of the lives that were taken by mass shootings in schools.
On March 24th, these kids and their families will hit the streets of Washington DC to demand to politicians that safety becomes a top priority. No child should have to go to school and fear that they may not make it home. The youth are standing up to make their voices heard on the issues that impact them and you too can be apart. The main march will be held at the Washington Mall in DC at 10 am but there will be sister marches held in cities across the world. Grab a friend or two and join the crowd to let your voice be heard as well.
